The Printed Circuit Board Association of America (PCBAA) announced the introduction of a new U.S. Senate bill aimed at reshoring and revitalizing the domestic PCB industry, which has seen its global market share decline from 30% to 4% over the past 30 years due to offshoring.
The legislation proposes tax incentives, grants, and tariff relief for U.S.-based PCB manufacturers, with a focus on high-tech segments such as military/aerospace, medical, and AI server PCBs. It also calls for increased funding for PCB manufacturing workforce development to address skilled labor shortages.
Industry leaders say the bill is critical for national security and supply chain resilience, as the U.S. currently relies heavily on overseas suppliers for advanced PCBs used in defense systems and critical infrastructure. If passed, the law could spur billions in domestic manufacturing investment over the next five years.
