I don’t know if you have encountered the kind of copper foil particularly thick circuit board, soldering iron when the tin does not melt, the iron on the temperature of the moment to be scattered by the copper foil. Long time of heating can only leave a lump of small tin beads on the pin, welding effect is not up to the standard.

Recently, the company produced a special thick circuit board, and the production of this product is also a routine thing, tin printing, patch, return furnace, the end. But the customers don’t know how to think, don’t want to in the SMT process board mounted above three perforated elements, this is awkward, comprehensive consideration is only sent after SMT process of all components are installed, the three perforated element and manual welding, fortunately, the number is not many, only two thousand piece, can be hard to start welding several colleagues.

But in the process of welding has met such confusion, bat on copper foil is too thick, the temperature of the soldering iron completely inadequate, not part of tin, it can be put in charge of hand soldering several colleagues anxious that bad, first with a heat gun heating board, and then use soldering iron welding, so while you can barely meet the welding requirements, but the speed, is really not compliment.

Finally came up with a long forgotten artifact, the small tin stove. I remember when I used this small tin stove to replace the memory slot in the main board. Insert the pin into the melted tin, silently count three Numbers, gently pull out, the old memory slot down, the new memory slot alignment position conveniently put, done.

However, with the continuous development of SMT industry, hand plug-ins and wave soldering technology are rarely used anymore. Even if a few hand plug-ins are occasionally used, they will be installed on PCB together during SMT production and welded after rewelding furnace. It won’t be like what we are doing now, hand welding after SMT is over, which is really a waste of time.

Here’s a reminder of the artifact’s past glory:

Small tin ovens found in the warehouse, and large pieces of tin under the shelves

Tin stove

Look at this full tank of tin, should not need to add tin, plug it into the first burning, so much tin, estimated to burn 30 minutes before all melting it

A lump of tin in a small tin melting bath

More than half an hour later, the tin blocks had turned into liquid and looked oily

After half an hour of heating, the tin turns into tin water

This time came a melon eating masses, see this rare thing, could not help but move the hand, the result can be imagined, the official ignorant fearless! (the colleague who is good at touching the edge of the small tin stove ended up with a soya bean-sized blister on his finger. Fortunately, he has a quick reaction speed, so it is better to watch from a distance for some unknown equipment.)
